Why Make a Legacy Gift?

Legacy Gifts are the foundation that ensures SCS remains a vibrant, challenging, and fun place for young women to develop, to find their place, and to grow into the leaders our world so deeply needs.

Your decision to leave a legacy at St. Clement’s School will hopefully fill you with a sense of satisfaction and happiness, knowing that your support will have a significant impact on the lives of so many future Clementines.

The Francis C. PowellHeritage Society

Biennially, the Francis C. Powell Heritage Society celebrates the legacy of the Powell family and honours all donors who have chosen to make a legacy gift to St. Clement’s School.

Francis Clement Powell was the son of St. Clement’s School founder Canon Thomas Wesley Powell, and a student in SCS’s first Kindergarten class in 1901. (In the early days, SCS taught both boys and girls.)

Francis was deeply proud of his father’s educational vision and remained close to the SCS community. This prompted him to leave a legacy gift to the School in his family’s honour. In 2003, Francis died and his dream of beginning an endowment for SCS became a reality.
